Dawn spent much of her early life traveling the country and gathering
varied experiences. After growing up in Indianapolis, she worked for
2 years with a feminist folk school in Mississippi, went to Arkansas
to gain a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and a minor in Spanish, and
spent 6 weeks studying the culture and politics in Costa Rica. After
moving to California in 2000, she jumped off the corporate ladder to
join the world of education. Since then, Dawn has earned a Multiple
Subject credential and a Masters in Educational Leadership and has
still managed to drive across the country twice. She has put all of
these experiences to use while working as a K-5 Childcare Specialist
at CASA, a tutor at Sylvan, and a 1st grade teacher at Rooftop.
Dawn's main goal is to inspire healthy self-esteem and to empower
young people to develop their individual strengths. She looks forward
to continuing this work with the students of Club Six.
In her spare time, Dawn enjoys exploring San Francisco, taking dance
lessons, cooking, and outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and
beachcombing.
