louisa le mauviel - visual arts
Louisa LeMauviel studied Art at Oberlin College, Penland School of Crafts, and the New York Film Academy. For the past three years she has taught art classes and workshops at afterschool programs and camps, instilling skills and encouraging creative confidence through mask-making, puppetry, photography, mural painting, collaborative audiovisual storytelling, and a wide range of other art forms.
As an artist, Louisa has worked with drawing, sewing, block-printing, collage, glasswork, ceramics, woodwork, digital and film photography, digital video, animation, installation, painting on a range of scales and surfaces, and simultaneous combination of all of the above. Her current work reflects a penchant for mixing media and a fascination with the way we teach our kids about the world, focusing on themes of face-painting, childrens' books, and games.
A native of Asheville NC, Louisa moved to the Bay Area in June with plans of settling in and continuing to pursue her biggest
love-- to inspire (and be inspired by) young people, through art-making. she is overjoyed to be a new member of
the CASA family!
